Riedell skates
All Riedell skates come in US Mens sizes. Normally whatever size you are in Australian womens, the skates are a size lower, and whatever size you are in Australian mens, the skates are a size higher. For instance I am an Australian women’s size 9 and I wear a US men’s size 8 in the skates. You can see this in the chart below...

However, there are always exceptions so check this in the chart below by actually measuring your foot. The measurements below were taken from the Riedell Ritz stick. To determine the proper boot length - In a standing position and on a flat surface place your heel against a wall and take a ruler or tape measure and lay it next to your foot. Measure from your longest toe to the heel. It is best to do this measurement with both feet in case one foot may be slightly longer than the other. Riedell sizes their boots for a snug fit so if you prefer a little room, then add 1/2-3/4 of a cm to your foot measurement. It is generally recommended to go for a more snug fit rather than a loose fit for playing derby though you don't want to be uncomfortably tight. Also remember that leather boots will stretch though vinyl not so much.

Every boot that Riedell makes has what is a called a last or a mould. Riedell make all their boots based on 4 main lasts: A 248 Alpha D/D last, a 395 Beta D/D last, a 965 Gamma D/B last and a 965 Delta B /AA last. The letters D or B in the last refers to width, the higher the letter, the wider the boot. They range from AA (narrowest)Â to D (widest).
248 Alpha D/D last- is used for boots 695, 195, 595 and 125. This boot has a ball width of D and a heel width of D. These boots also have a low toe box height which can make the boots feel narrower so are often better fitted to those with narrow pointy toes. These boots are also not true to the length sizing chart above, you have to add approximately 0.5cm on your foot measurement.
395 Beta D/D last- is used for boots R3, dash, 811, 911 and 395. This boot has a ball width of D and a heel width of D. These boots have a higher toe box height which can make the boots feel longer so are often better fitted to those with square toes. These boots are true to the length sizing chart above.
965 Gamma D/B last - is used for boots 1065, 965, 495, 265, 126, and 122. This boot has a ball width of D and a heel width of B. These boots have a higher toe box height which can make the boots feel longer so are often better fitted to those with square toes and the B heel gives a more snug fit. Similar to Beta last but with a narrower heel. These boots are true to the length sizing chart above.
965 Delta B/AA last - is used for special order only (and not stock) on boots 1065, 965, blue streak, 495, 265, 126, and 122. This boot has a ball width of B and a heel width of AA so is better for very narrow feet. Same proportions as Gamma last but with a more slender profile for narrower last. These boots are true to the length sizing chart above.
Riedell skates are narrow, so check if your feet are too wide in the chart below. This chart measures ball measurements for all the lasts. Both feet should be measured in the sitting position using a tape measure. Measure the circumference of the widest portion of the ball of the foot pulling the tape snugly. If the chart gives you a higher boot size than your length gives you, you may be best to go with another brand.

Crazy skates
All crazy skates come in Euro sizes. The chart below details sizing for the crazy rocket kids skates. The length in cm is the length of the innersole inside the skate. For example, if your foot measures 25cm, do not order a 25cm size (size Euro 38) as it will be too small. Allow 3-5mm for a good fit or if you want to allow for growth room, Crazy skates suggests a maximum of 2 -2.5 cm.

There are always exceptions to the above chart, so please measure your foot and compare this to the size chart below. The chart below lists the measurement of the innersole so allow some room if you want space. To measure your feet, in a standing position and on a flat surface place your heel against a wall and take a ruler or tape measure and lay it next to your foot. Measure from your longest toe to your heel. It is best to do this measurement with both feet in case one foot may be slightly longer than the other.

Crazy plates
Please use these charts to work out which size plate you should use for your boot size. These charts show the boot size vs plate size that the manufacturer recommends. If you are happy with your current plates you can measure the wheel base (centre to centre dimension from one axle to the other) and use this as a basis for your decision.

Riedell plates
Plate sizes and boot sizes are not always the same, please use these charts to work out which size plate you should use for your boot size. These charts show the boot size vs plate size that the manufacturer recommends, but expert skaters vary their size to achieve different skate characteristics. As a general rule shorter plates (or plates with a shorter wheel base) will be quicker to turn and will feel more agile. Longer plates will feel more stable but will not turn as quickly. Some more experienced skaters will go for a shorter plate but it’s very much a personal preference. If you are happy with your current plates you can measure the wheel base (centre to centre dimension from one axle to the other) and use this as a basis for your decision.
More info about plate sizing can also be found on the Riedell website at www.roller.riedellskates.com/Support.aspx
Riedell (Powerdyne) Arius plates
The Arius uses a unique design so it's a little hard to compare it to other plates but the action is similar to a 45 plate like the Avenger so if you are used to this style of plate or looking for more agility you can do down one or two plate sizes from the chart below. If you're not sure email us for more info.
